Edna Louise Arnold Wallen of Sophia, WV entered Heaven at Harper Mills on February 10, 2019 at the age of 102. She was born on July 9, 1916 in Laurel Bloomery, TN to her parents, Charles Eugene Arnold and Mary Craven Arnold who preceded her in death.
She was a graduate of Mark Twain High School. Edna was a devout Christian and always attended church. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sophia, WV. She read the Bible from cover to cover until she lost her vision in her 80’s.
She was a 73 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she held every office multiple times and was their pianist until she entered Harper Mills three years ago.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 52 years, Andrew J. “Andy” Wallen; two daughters, Anita Louise Wallen who died at birth and Sandra Humphrey; five brothers, Walter Earl, Virgil, Terrell E., James Lee and Jack; and one sister, Pauline Stewart.
She is survived by her children, Jack Wallen and his wife, Gail of Mullens, Rita Porter of Lemon Grove, CA, Kay King and her husband, Pate of Mullens, Harold Wallen and his wife, Julie of Plainfield, IN, and Ricky Wallen and his wife, Terri of Beckley; son-in-law, Jim Humphrey of Mt. Hope, WV; one sister, Mary Alice Green of CA; one brother, Kermit Ray Arnold of Houston, TX; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm, Friday, February 15, 2019 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Home with her grandson, Steve Wallen officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of the Cross in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
