Rev. Eldridge Hundley Jr.

November 19, 1941March 7, 2021

Reverend Eldridge Hundley Jr. born November 19, 1941 at Pemberton, Raleigh County WV to Eldridge Valentine Hundley (1903-1978) and Beatrice Mahala (Duncan) Hundley (1908-1992). Reverend Hundley passed 07 March 2021 at the home of his daughter Michele in the loving care of his family after a short illness.

Eldridge Hundley Jr. or Junior (Hot Dog) as he was known, served in the United States Army before returning home in the 1960s. He like many West Virginians, left West Virginia in search of work. Working for the Pettibone Corporation as an assembler in Chicago, IL and then returning home to West Virginia in the 1970s where he entered the coal mines until leaving the mines in the 1990s. Junior while working in the mines was called into the service of the Lord (1981) and remained in that service until his passing. Junior was an active pastor until the day he passed to his heavenly home. Co-Founder of the All the way with Jesus program, Junior spread the word of Christ everywhere he went, in the house of the Lord, from the homes for the elderly, hospices homes, hospitals and even yard sales. He never took his duty for God lightly. Junior made many structures his home throughout his lifetime, however he came through his service and devotion to God to only know one place as his home. His enjoyment in life was reading his Bible daily, talking to his children and grandchildren, taking those long Sunday rides or being with his best friend Gene Tilley, and singing the rejoicing hymns of the Lord. His favorite hymn was The Eastern Gate. He took solitude in knowing that all his children had given their lives to the Lord and prayed daily that all the others in the family did the same. His testimony in almost every service was his desire to get the message across to any family or friends who may not know the gift of salvation to come forth and experience the fulfilling joy of having our savior Jesus Christ enter their heart and have their own personal relationship with God.

Preceding Junior in his death in addition to his parents was his wife, Deloris May (June 15, 2020), his wife and best friend Brenda Rae (February 1, 2011). Daughter Rebecca Lynn (August 30, 2016). Brothers Earl (2002) James “Bonnie” (2017), Leroy (2019) and Sisters Ruth Hundley (1945), Mary “Totsie” Carr (1971), Wilma “Jean” Massey (1990), Ella “Ellen” Bowman (2007), Virginia “Sissy” Price (2016), Essie “Corkie” Erjecito (2021).

Upon his passing, Junior leaves behind his sisters Freda Atkins (Frank), Lorene Kelley (Guy) and Camello “Jo” Kruk (Dennis). I remember Uncle Jr., from when I was a child. His sister, Freda, is my mother. We used to go to West Virginia almost every summer on vacation. I remember Uncle Jr. making us kids laugh a lot. He always had something funny to tell us about. I really love and admire him for that. Thank you for the memories, Uncle Jr.. It's hard to lose a family member. It gives me peace to know he is with the Lord now. May God bless, comfort and strengthen all the family members, at this time, during their grief and always. Uncle Jr. has a special place in my heart. I look forward to seeing him again in heaven. Rest in peace, Uncle Jr..

Dear Hundley Family,

Katie (Uncle Leroy--my Dad's wife) told me of Uncle Junior's passing. I am so sorry...
I remember visiting Uncle Junior and Brenda when they lived in the sticks up near Beckley. We stayed a couple nights...I remember Uncle Junior showing Dad and me his garden, which he was so proud of. And of course, talking religion with Dad! And Brenda playing a Bible board game with me. ..They are both together in heaven now, along with all of the family , relatives and friends. I use the Bible that Uncle Junior and Brenda gave Dad at the family reunion at John Slack Park in Boone , County. And I remember visiting Maw Hundley and all the kids and relatives, when Junior and family lived next door. And visiting Junior when he lived in Sundial, hanging out with Cousin Shelly when we were young. All the good memories. Thank you Uncle Junior, for telling us about God and sharing your faith. God bless the family. Love, Libby

I met pastor Junior several years back and his devotion to God and family was his heart. He preached SALVATION and FORGIVNESS in a simple way that a child could understand the call. He's in havens' care now and no more tears or heartaches will he share.
