Eric E. "Rick" Metrick, 75 of Beckley, WV died Wednesday November 25, 2020 at Bowers Hospice House following a hard fought battle with cancer. Born July 21, 1945, he was the son of the late Tony Lawrence and Helen Francis Martin Metrick.
Rick was a member of The First Church of the Nazarene, Beckley, WV. He was a 1963 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, he attended Raleigh County Vocational Technical Center and Beckley College. He was a Master Electrician for 34 years in coal mines, where he met many lifelong friends. He was a radar repairman for the United States Army during the Vietnam War, stationed in Germany.
Rick loved Fishing, hunting, woodworking, and fixing anything that was broken. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his camp on the Greenbrier River.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Susie Ann Jones Metrick; his only son, Jason Eric Metrick; two sisters, Connie Forshee and Jean Metrick; and two brothers, Kennis Metrick and Larry Metrick.
Those left to cherish his memory are his only daughter, Cindy ODell and husband Brian of Beckley, WV; grandchildren, Greg Metrick of Beckley, WV, Sarah Metrick of Fayetteville, WV and Andy ODell of Beckley, WV; sister, Nickie Kist of Panama City, FL; brother, Glen Metrick and wife, Nancy of FT. Myers, FL; sister-in-laws, Ginger Metrick, Patty Metrick, and Pauline Tucker all of Beckley, WV; a special cousin who was like a brother to him, Eddie Martin and wife, Judy of Williamson, KY; several cousins; nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
Everyone who knew Rick loved his zest for life. He was always joking around, carried a smile on his face, and joy in his heart. The world has lost one of the best.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Metrick, Bruce Metrick, Joe Tucker, Brandon Thompson, Matthew Allen and Todd Boley.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 pm, Monday, November 30, 2020 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Devotion in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
