He preceded in death by his parents Ernie Ross Sr. and Mary Martin Ross; brothers, Donald Ross, David Ross, and a son, Eddie Ross. Those left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 52 years, Brenda (Wrenn) Ross; daughters, Victoria and fiancé Bart Houck, Heather Buzminsky and husband, Chad; grandchildren, Marcus Ross and wife, Jessica, Kayla Muscari and husband, Dr. Evan Muscari, Ali Whitten and husband, Zach, Rebekah, Adriana, Ethan, Talan, Alayiah, Layton and Atlas; brother, Allen Ross and wife, Betty.
Ernie was a graduate of Mullens High School in 1966 and a member of the marching band. He was an Army Veteran and received the National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Expert Badge (M-14) Sharpshooter Badge M-16 and Good Conduct Medal. He worked in the coal mines for 20 years and spent 27 years working for the Mine Safety and Health Administration. Ernie loved playing guitar, making everyone smile and enjoyed the outdoors. Nothing made him happier than spending time with his family and worshipping the Lord. He was truly a man of God and a great example of what a husband, father, and papaw should be. He will always be remembered for his witty personality and humbleness. Though the battle was rough, the love of his life, Brenda, stood by his side from beginning to end and she “Finished what they started”.
