

Frank Robert Lavender, Jr, 79, of Beaver, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2016. He was the son of the late Frank Lavender, Sr and Elsie McVey Lavender. Born February 9, 1937 in Charleston, WV. Frank spent six months in the Army and 5 ½ years in the Army National Guard. He was a loyal member of Raleigh County Democratic Party. He was formerly employed by Fleger Motors, Owen-illinois Glass Co (Charleston, WV), Fisher Body General Motors (Cleveland, Oh), NY Central Railroad, Keyser Aluminum (Ravenswood), Glass Bottlers Union and Steel workers of America. Frank was a retired member of the WV State Police with 26 years of service, former Sheriff of Raleigh County (1992-2000), Member of WV Trooper Association, Fraternal Order of Police-State Police Lodge, National Association of State Police, Beckley Moose Lodge and founder of Raleigh County Crime Stoppers. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters, Hallie Douglas, Gwen Norris and Lula Nalle. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 46 years, Jean Brash Lavender; brother, Jack Lavender of Chesapeake; sister, Louise Douglas of Chesapeake. Friends may gather with the family Monday, October 17, 2016 from 11-1pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 1pm, Monday, October 17, 2016 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Rev. Damron Bradshaw officiating. Entombment will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.
