George was born on October 20, 1953 in Beckley WV a son of the late George Gordon Keith III and Frances Brezack Keith. George spent many years in the trucking industry first as a driver, then in Operations Management and then finally as a Safety Consultant. He was most happy working, advising others and cultivating relationships in business and life.
George battled his health and diabetes the last five years but never gave up. In 2017, he became an amputee and demonstrated his warrior spirit, “or stubbornness”, driving a car within a week of leaving rehab. The rehab staff at Wake Med loved his perseverance and humor, which he proudly displayed with a variety of T-shirts about losing his leg in a game of poker.
He is survived by his children, Tiffany Jelovich (Dan) of Raleigh, NC; John Keith (Jennifer) of Holly Springs, NC; grandsons Winston & Spencer Keith; sisters Loretta Smith and Debby Chandler both of Charleston, WV. He is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Frances Young of Rockingham, NC. George also considered Rodney Ramsey (Bridget) and Mia Manning, both children from his second marriage his own, along with their children Brooke, Chloe, and Mila Ramsey (Rodney) and Isaiah (Mia).
The service will be at Montlawn Memorial Park at 2911 S Wilmington St Raleigh NC at 12:00 pm Saturday, January 28, 2023. Both the service and interment of ashes following will be held in the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum. The family will host a lunch and receive friends and family at the home of John and Jennifer Keith immediately following at 365 Fire Opal Lane Holly Springs, NC. All are welcome to attend either or both.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the National Fragile X Foundation (https://fragilex.org) on behalf of his grandson, Winston Levi Keith.
