Born January 2, 1922 at Tamroy, WV to the late Dayton Dolvie Lilly, Sr and the late Daisy Alice Basham Lilly.
Gracie was a homemaker, loved gardening, bird watching, going to church, but most of all spending time with her family and playing with her grandchildren. She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and an avid member of the Maple Valley Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Vercil Alfred Blake; brothers, Frank and Dayton Lilly, Jr; and sisters, Macie Toney and Daisy Slouber.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving sons, Alfred Wayne Blake and wife, Tondyleya of Mt. Hope, Gary Edward Blake and wife, Sandy of Hampton, VA, William Dayton Blake and wife, Peggy of Hampton, VA, and Rondell Kent Blake and wife, Lisa of Winston-Salem, NC; 9 grandchildren, Joan Church, Alfred Blake II, Tonda Blake, Scott Blake, Susan Goodwin, Adam Blake, Patrick Blake, Justin Nathanial Blake, and Preston Andrew Blake; 13 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Melba Burnett, Joan Crouch, Alice Griffiths, and Mary Barley; extended family and friends.
Services to Celebrate the life of Gracie Lilly Blake will be held 11:00AM Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Drive, Beckley with Pastor Brad Williams and Reverend Harmon Davis officiating. Following the services, Gracie will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Scott Christopher Blake, Patrick Dayton Blake, Adam Preston Blake, Justin Nathanial Blake, Aaron Randall Church, Zachary Ryan Clay, David Toney and Charles Toney will be serving as pallbearers.
Friends may gather with the family from 6:00PM until 9:00PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
