Born in Missouri on May 23 she was the daughter of the late Cyrus Martin Epperson and Esta Mae (Spencer) Epperson and sister of the late Vauda Faye Burnham. Susie was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Charles Malcolm McCray and her infant daughter Judith Kay McCray.
Susie is survived by her daughters Susan (Ray) McCray Hage and Rebecca (Chris) McCray Gallagher; sons Jeffrey (Robin) Stephen McCray and J. Michael McCray; grandchildren Shari (Stephen) Hage Ward, Ray Hage Jr., Amy (Bruce) Hage Jacobs, Patrick (Jennifer) Gallagher, Matt McCray, and Carrington McCray; 7 great-grandchildren; and many friends who will miss her dearly.
Susie has been a member of the United Methodist Temple since 1984 where she was a member of the Altar Guild, Circle Leader, President of the United Methodist Women, and member of the Eastwood Sunday School Class. She loved to give back to her community by being involved with the Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, and the American Osteopathic Auxillary for Physician's Spouses. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, painting, reading, and most importantly, caring for her family. Her passions were having family gatherings and baking.
A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at United Methodist Temple on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at 4:00 pm. The family will receive friends for visitation from 3 - 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Southern West Virginia, PO Box 1472, Beckley, WV 25802 in her memory.
