Halaine (Pegram) Todd

Halaine Pegram Todd, 81 of Beckley, WV gained her wings Saturday, August 24, 2019 as she passed away peacefully at The Bowers Hospice House. Born July 3, 1938, in Jonben, WV, Halaine was the daughter of Curtis and Rachel Pegram of Jonben.

Being a nurse was Halaine's heart’s desire, which she accomplished in 1971, with her true passion being in elderly care. Helping others was something that she continued to do long after she retired. She was a great friend to so many but above all she was a loving wife of 61 years, a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a great-great grandmother. She loved her family and left behind many fond memories and recipes that only "Grandma Honey Bunny" could make. Her biscuits, chicken and dumplings, rice pudding and hot cocoa where some of the favorites of her little "sweeties" that she will take to Heaven with her. Halaine loved her baseball and her church, she was co- coordinator of the Seniors Aglow for several years, as well as a member of the Heritage Choir at Family Worship Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Charles and Jerry Pegram; and sisters, Audrey Norris and Nancy Bradley.

She is survived by sisters, Brenda Greer, Sharon Gordon; and brother, Steve Pegram.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband, James Todd; children, Roberta Kuhn Smith, Debbie Benbow, Kent Wyatt, Sherry Todd, Darlene Todd, Sandy Riley, 10 grandchildren, 15 great- grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

The family would like to give special appreciation to Dr. Joseph Golden, Dr. Maria Bustani, the 4 South Nursing Staff at Raleigh General Hospital and The Bowers Hospice House for the amazing care they provided.

A memorial service will be held at The Family Worship Center on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 5pm, visitation beginning at 4:30pm. with Pastor Stacy Dingess and Rev. Michael Patterson officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to St Jude’s Hospital or Burlington House in Beckley, WV. Arrangements by Blue Ridge Funeral Home.
