
Harvey (Tip) Clifford Tipton of Sophia, WV, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on July 1, 2026 at the Bowers Hospice House in Prosperity, WV surrounded by the love of his family. He was 90 years old. Born on April 8, 1936, He was the son of the late Homer and Thelma (Von) Tipton.
He was a 1954 graduate of Mark Twain High School. Harvey spent many years working in the coal mining industry before later becoming an electrician, a career from which he eventually retired. He was known for his strong work ethic, dependability and devotion to his family. He found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. An avid fisherman, He treasured countless hours on the water. He also loved tending his garden and took pride in watching it flourish each season. A devoted fan of West Virginia University athletics. He enthusiastically cheered on every Mountaineer team. In his later years, some of his happiest moments were spent listening to music and sharing precious time with his beloved grandson, Brandon.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 70 years, Norma Jean Tipton; his son, Bobby Tipton and wife Lisa; His daughter, Robin Smith and husband Bill; his grandchildren, Eric Tipton and Brandon Smith; his great-granddaughters, Madelynn and Myla; along with nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who became like family over the years. In addition to his parents, Harvey was preceded in death by his brother, Michael (Mickey) Tipton and his sister, Patsy Keith.

Funeral Services will be on Friday, July 10th, 2026, at 1PM at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors one hour prior. Harvey will be entombed at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens following the service.
