Ira Keith "Link" Marcum, 65, of MacArthur, WV, passed away October 5, 2021. Born April 22, 1956 in Welch, West Virginia he was the son of the late Robert and Audrey Duff Marcum. Ira was a graduate of Mullens High School, class of 1974. Ira started his career in the Coal Mining industry upon graduating from high school, then later worked in construction in Chapel Hill, NC only to return home to the coalfields of West Virginia for the last 29 years.
Ira was a good man that had a special bond that he shared with his family, friends and neighbors, he didn't know a stranger. He was a devoted family man, who cherished his soulmate, and son. Ira especially loved being outdoors, either on a river, lake, the mountains or the beach with his family. An avid sports fan, he loved, fishing, hunting. Was always excited when Nascar season come around and especially enjoyed college basketball rooting for WVU and UNC, loved watching the Chicago Cubs baseball and NY Jets football, enjoyed TV, especially old westerns and enjoyed listening to music and attending concerts. He loved his two shepherds, Maia and Mhysa who were always by his side ready to entertain him. The affection and kindness he exuded was ever present in his actions and caring towards others. Ira is someone that loved and was loved, and will be missed.
Ira was preceded in death by his father, Robert Marcum, and his mother Audrey Marcum, nephew Jamie Roop, and a very special sister-in-law Felicia Marcum. Those left to cherish his memories include his beloved soulmate of 39 years Etta Brehm; his son, the pride and joy of his life, James "Jake" Marcum. His brothers, Robert "Bobby" Marcum and Linda, and Roger "Muggs" Marcum, his sister Carolyn "Susie" Thomas; nephews, Jason Roop, Roger Marcum Jr., Chris Marcum; a niece Kayla Marcum Martin, a very special family member Mickey, special neighbors Roy and Joni who are family; and many more loving family and friends.
At Ira's request he will be cremated and his ashes brought home.
