Jack L. Adkins, Sr, 82, of Beckley, passed away at his home on Tuesday, September 16, 2014.
Born on June 25, 1932 in Raleigh County to the late Lonnie and Nina Ewing Adkins.
Jack loved hunting, fishing, spending time with his family, and going to his camp. He was retired Coal Miner following 34 years of dedicated service with New River Coal and member of the UMWA, of the Baptist Faith and served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps. during the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Olga Adkins; a son, Steven Clark; two brothers, Virgil Adkins and Curtis Adkins; and two sisters, Nila Bledsoe and Drema Bragg.
Those left to cherish his memory include his two sons, Jack Adkins,Jr and wife, Teresa of Bragg and Kenny Adkins and wife, Thelma of White Sulphur Springs; three grandchildren, Kelsie Adkins of Bragg, April Street and husband, Aaron of Glace, and C.J. Adkins of White Sulphur Springs; two great-grandchildren, Peyton Street of Glace and Noah Street of Glace; two brothers, Floyd Adkins and wife, Bonnie of Caldwell and Rubin Adkins and wife, Mary of Beckley; four sisters, Elizabeth Navarro and husband, Ray of Toledo, OH, Jewel Rawls and husband Jerry of Stanaford, Mary Sue Obugene of Beckley and Irene Cook of Crab Orchard; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Graveside Services will be held 1:00PM Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley with Pastor Roger E. Pauley officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Olga.
Friends may gather with the family from 12:00PM until 1:00PM at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley.
