CINCINNATI, OH. Born on June 12, 1943 at Colcord, WV, he was the beloved son of the late
Carl E. (Sr.) and Mary Pettry. Jack worked many jobs throughout his lifetime, including restaurant owner, mechanic and healthcare maintenance. Jack received his degree in automotive mechanics from Henrich
Motors in Rochester, NY. He was a gifted wood craftsman and collector of antiques.
He loved gardening and grew the best tomatoes anywhere! He loved animals, especially his cats Sam and Libby. His kindness and goodness was known to all, endearing him to all that came to know him. He was a very friendly, caring, and hardworking individual. Most of all, he was the loving and gentle father of his two girls, as well as a loyal and dedicated husband to his wife. Jack loved the Lord, and his family knows that they will see him again in Heaven. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Lee, Carl Edward, Basil, and sisters, Ivy and Icie Pettry. He is survived by his his devoted wife, Arlene Walker Pettry of Batavia, Ohio, daughter and son-in law, Robert L. and Angela R. Edwards of Cincinnati, Ohio, daughter and son-in-law Lt. Colonel Michael and Gretchen Saylor of Haymarket, VA, as well as cherished grandchildren: Bryant T. Edwards of Cincinnati, OH, Brenton L. (and wife Rebecca) Edwards of Orlando, FL, Christian A. Saylor, a student at George Mason University, and Felicity G. Saylor a student at Christopher Newport University. Also, he was survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, as well as their children, his nieces and nephews. Further, he is remembered fondly by many dear cousins.
The family will receive friends, Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 10:30 am to 11:30 am at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 am in the Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Home.
