Little Jackie passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on the morning of July 23rd, two days after the passing of his father Big Jack. Jackie was born to Ruby Hendricks (Weis) and the late Jack Hendricks in New York State, but was raised in the mountains West Virginia.
Jackie was known and loved by many, most especially by his mother Ruby. He traveled throughout the country in his youth before returning to the mountains. Little Jackie was preceded in death by his brother Teddy Hendricks and father Jack Hendricks.
He is survived by his mother Ruby Hendricks, sister Tammy Korniotes, and nieces Jessica, Katherine, and Laura Korniotes. His nieces remember him fondly as the only “grown-up” who could be persuaded to take them swimming, fishing, and hunting for salamanders and crawdads every single day of the summer.
He taught us never to hurt the things we find and to always watch for snakes. We think that heaven for Jackie is somewhere under the stars, with a warm fire to fall asleep beside and his family nearby.
Family will be hosting a joint memorial for Little Jackie and Big Jack at Terry Independent Church on Friday, July 24 at 1 pm. Masks requested and available.
