Jennings "Jim" Everett Riser Sr.

Jennings “Jim” Everette Riser, 84 of Clayton, NC, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, March 7, 2016. He was the son of the late James Riser, and Mary Toney Riser. Mr. Riser was born February 7, 1932 in Carlisle, WV. He was a retired coal miner. He was a member of the Beckley Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star. He attended the Church of God. In addition to his parents, preceding him in death is wife of 51 years, Opal Osborne Riser; brothers, James W. Riser, William Riser and Rodney Riser; sister, Icie Toney. Those left to cherish his memory include sons, Roger Riser and wife Debbie of Clayton, NC, Jennings “Jim” Riser Jr. and his wife Sherry of Virginia Beach, VA; brother, Frank Riser and wife Drema of Lodi OH; sister, Ruth Ann Light of Union City, OH; grandsons, Patrick Woodrum and Christopher, Adam, Timothy and Jordan Riser; three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Friends may gather with the family, Saturday, March 12, 2016 from 6-9pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Services will be held Sunday, March 13, 2016 at 2pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with Pastor Richard Allen officiating. Masonic grave rites will be conducted by the Beckley Masonic Lodge. Members will serve as pallbearers.
