Jerry Johnson

Born on May 4th, 1953, he was the son of the late David Thomas Johnson and Helen Louise Meade Johnson.

Jerry was a graduate from Montcalm High School in 1972, having graduated with honors. After school Jerry spent nearly 40 years in the coal mines and retired as an electrical supervisor.

In his spare time, he was an avid deer hunter and also loved golfing and fishing. He loved vacations with his wife Marie at Myrtle Beach. He also enjoyed spending time with his siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jerry was one to enjoy life and was known for his competitive spirit. A man of many talents, he possessed a pilot’s license and flew small planes for several years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Marie.

Those left to cherish the memory of Jerry include brothers, Ricky (Phyllis) Johnson of Bluefield, WV, and Ronnie (Tami) Johnson of Graham, NC; a sister, Linda (Ronnie) Saunders of Trinity, NC; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services for Jerry will be at the First Baptist Church of Eccles on Tuesday, September 23rd, 2025, at 1PM with Rev. Gary Hall and Rev. Larry Kinzer officiating. The family will receive visitors 1 hour prior. Jerry will be laid to rest following the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

Thomas Richards, James Hampton, Mallie Giampocaro, Allen Thompson, Scott Butcher and Neal Vestal will serve as pallbearers.
