JoAnn Sears Reiger passed peacefully at her home in Beckley, WV on Monday, July 24, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. JoAnn was born in Fireco, WV to the late Reverend Clinton Ray Sears and the late Brady Easter Sisk Sears. She was a member of the Fireco Independent Baptist Church, and sang for many years in a gospel group. JoAnn’s greatest joy was her family.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell John Reiger; an infant granddaughter JoAnn Elizabeth Long; sisters Louise Sexton, Audrey Lilly, and Betty Garrison; and brothers Clinton Sears, Jr. and Ronald Sears. Her living siblings include James “Jimmy” Sears, Opal Thompson (husband Curt), Susie McGraw (husband Chuck), and Roger Sears (wife Patty).
JoAnn was a loving mother and grandmother. Those she left behind include her son Randall Long and his wife Terry; her daughter Mona Sears Price and her husband Alan; her daughter Mary Cole and her husband Gary; and her daughter Annissa Reiger. JoAnn also dearly loved her dog Chewey Reiger.
Grandchildren include: Jeff Sears (partner Heather), James Akers (wife Tara), April Treadway, Sarah Cole, Amanda Long (husband Seth), Debbie Derreberry (husband Gary), Becky Long, Ray Long (wife Colleen), Ryan Long (wife Wendi), Jon Long (wife Kayla), and Chris Knight.
Great-grandchildren include: Kaitlynn Johnson, Faith Testement, Hunter Sears, Garrett Sears, Caiden Akers, Raelynn Akers, Seth Treadway, Danielle Treadway, Kenzie Treadway, Charly Dale Cole, John David Cole, Zander Long, Peyton Long, Kamryn Long, Silas Long, Matthew Derreberry, Corey Derreberry, Kaylee Long, Ciara Long, Peyton Long, Morgan Long, Tim Long, Aiden Long, Liam Long, Lucas Long, Oliver Long, Emma Long, Allie Long, and Arya West-Knight.
She also had great-great-grandson, Karter Testement.
Services will be held at Blueridge Funeral Home in Prosperity. The wake will be held on Thursday, July 27; family hour will be 4pm-5pm and open to the public 5pm-8pm. The Funeral will be at 1pm on Friday, July 28. A graveside service will follow.
