Jose Rizo Garcia

Jose was born on July 6, 1955, in Jalisco, Mexico, where he learned the value of hard work at an early age. He married the love of his life, Luisa Rizo, in Mexico, and together they began a life devoted to family. They later immigrated to Azusa, California, before eventually making their home in West Virginia. Through determination, perseverance, and countless hours of hard work, Jose built a successful career in the restaurant business, providing a wonderful life for his family.

Jose cherished every opportunity to travel back to California and Mexico to reunite with family and lifelong friends. He enjoyed playing cards and dominoes and was a passionate supporter of Club Deportivo Guadalajara (Las Chivas). Soccer was one of his greatest joys, and he rarely missed an opportunity to watch a match on television.

Above all else, Jose was a devoted husband, father, and abuelito. His family was the center of his life. He worked tirelessly to provide for those he loved, and spending time with them brought him his greatest happiness. He will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, generous heart, and the love he shared with everyone around him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of many years, Luisa Rizo; his sons, Jose Luis Rizo, Erasmo Rizo, Felipe Rizo, and Richi Rizo; his brothers and sisters, Juana, Marta, Estela, Teresa, Maria, Margarita, Francisco, Juan, and Jose Rizo; and his cherished grandchildren, Jose, Brianna, Alissa, Jaime, Chris, Roman, Nicholas, and Lorenzo.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jaime Rizo; his parents, Francisco and Margarita Rizo; and his sister, Ofelia Rizo.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Drive, Prosperity, WV 25880.

A Mass of Catholic Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 626 South Oakwood Drive, Beckley, WV 25801. Burial will immediately follow.

The Rizo family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who offered prayers, love, and support throughout Jose’s long illness. His strength, kindness, unwavering dedication to his family, and legacy of hard work will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
