Katherine Thomas, 89, of Glen Morgan, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, April 11, 2017. Born April 5, 1928 in Fireco, WV to the late Earl and Merethy Smith. She worked as a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Thomas; son, Raymond E. Thomas; son-in-law, Lloyd T. Melton. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Wesley Thomas (Ruth), Evelyn Melton, Beverly Melton (Jerry), Preston Thomas (Gloria), Mary Collins (Cheyenne) and Dallas “Duke” Thomas (Charlotte); numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Cox (Herbert), Joyce Reed and Brenda Risaliti (Sam). Friends may gather with the family Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home from 5-8pm. Funeral service will be held 2pm, Friday, April 14, 2017 at Tilden Community Church with Pastor Benton Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Tilden Community Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
