Kippy was a devoted and loving father and Papaw who treasured time spent with his family. His grandchildren were truly the light of his life, and there was little he enjoyed more than being surrounded by the people he loved.
When he was able, Kippy enjoyed fishing with his sons and could always be counted on for a good joke. He was also a loyal West Virginia Mountaineers fan. Whether it was football or basketball, if the Mountaineers were playing, Kippy was watching.
Kippy graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, where he enjoyed playing the saxophone and marching in the school band. He later worked in HVAC for Childers Enterprises for many years.
More than anything, Kippy will be remembered for the love he showed his family and the memories he leaves behind. To his grandchildren, he was a loving Papaw who “gave good hugs” and, in their simple but heartfelt words, “was a good person.” Those words capture so much of the man his family knew and loved and the special place he will always hold in their hearts.
Kippy was preceded in death by his father, Hershel Perdue, and his sister, Penny Wright.
Those left to cherish his memory include his devoted mother, Scarlet Perdue; his three loving children, Cindy (Damon) Taylor, and their children, Peyton and Lexi; James (Autumn) Perdue, and their children, DJ, Bayleigh, Jayce, Scarlet, and Jameson; and Jacob (Kelsey) Perdue, and their children, Ella, Aaron, Eliza, and Archer.
He is also survived by his loving brother, Gary Perdue(Nicole Bailey), and Gary’s children, Emily Perdue and Olivia (Caleb) Roark; as well as his late sister Penny’s children, Justin (Krystle) Wright and children, and Zach Wright, along with many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Raleigh Center and Center Well Home Health & Hospice of Southern West Virginia, especially Zondra, Lindsay, and Hannah, for the care and compassion shown to Kippy and his family.
The family would also like to thank Pastor Tommy Newman and Sovereign Grace Baptist Church for the many prayers, words of comfort, and support given to the family during this difficult time.
Kippy’s life will be remembered not simply by the years he lived, but by the family he loved, the laughter he brought, the hugs his grandchildren will never forget, and the many memories that will continue to be shared by those who loved him.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home in Beckley, West Virginia, with Pastor Tommy Newman officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m., with the funeral service to follow at 12:00 p.m.
Kippy will be carried to his final resting place by pallbearers James Perdue, Jacob Perdue, Damon Taylor, Justin Wright, DJ Fitzwater, and Austin Gunnoe.
The family welcomes all who knew and loved Kippy to join them in remembering and celebrating his life.
