Loretta Wagner

Loretta Anne Wagner, 87, of Scott Depot, WV, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2026, surrounded by her children and son in law, after a long illness. She was born October 17, 1938, in Kincaid, WV, the daughter of the late Archie and Pearl Adkins Johnson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Thomas Wagner; brothers Bill Johnson and Bob Johnson; and sisters Oleeda Farley, Nancy Settle, June Eldreth, Barbara Beals, and Carolyn Johnson.

She is survived by her sister Judy Kincaid and brother James Johnson; children Terri Dunn of Cross Lanes, WV, Kristi Elswick (and husband Tom) of Pickerington, OH, and Joe Wagner of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren Heather Dunn of Charleston, WV, Michaela Dunn and Emily Dunn of Cross Lanes, WV, Thomas Elswick of Rowland, NC, Ryan Elswick of Gaithersburg, MD, and Joshua and Alyssa Elswick of Pickerington, OH; and great grandchildren Haley, Bryson, and Levi Irwin of Charleston, WV, Sophie Dunn and Julie Cook of Cross Lanes, WV, and Carlyee Hall of Cross Lanes, WV.

Loretta retired from Wells Fargo Insurance Group. Her greatest joy in life was her family, whom she loved fiercely. Known for her warm smile and long, loving hugs, she made everyone feel welcome and deeply cared for. She also enjoyed genealogy research, oil painting, gardening, and sharing stories and knowledge with those she loved.

A visitation will be held at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Drive, Beckley, WV, on Wednesday, April 8, at 11:00am, immediately followed by a graveside service at 12:00pm, at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
