I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Mabel Arlene Pack Farley, 96, of Beckley, West Virginia, passed away on July 1, 2026.
Born on May 12, 1930, in Crumps Bottom, West Virginia, Mabel lived a life rooted in faith, family, kindness, and love. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose gentle spirit and generous heart touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Mabel was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Oral Farley; her infant son, Richard Farley; her cherished son, Butch Farley; her parents, Arby and Florence Pack; and her siblings, Maxine Berry, Harold Pack, Imogene Meadows, Ronald Pack, and Kenneth Pack.
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever treasure her memory: her daughters, Vicki West and Benita Sauchuck; her son-in-law, Pete; her daughter-in-law, Anna Farley; her grandchildren, Brian Farley and partner Jamie Watson; Leigh Ann Hosey and husband Michael; Jessica Melniczak and husband Paul; Frank Sauchuck and wife Amanda Sue; and Matthew Farley and wife Sarah; and her great-grandchildren, Makayla Hosey, Tyler Hosey, Zach Pegram, Logan Farley, Emma Farley, Olivia Farley, Simon Melniczak, Samuel Melniczak, Lucy Melniczak, Piper Sauchuck, Norah Farley, and Silas Farley.
To know Mabel was to know genuine kindness. She had the sweetest spirit, a warm sense of humor, and a generous heart that made everyone feel welcome. Whether you knew her for a lifetime or only a short while, she had a way of making you feel like family. Her love was quiet but steadfast, shown through countless acts of service, thoughtful gestures, and the unwavering care she gave to those around her.
Known affectionately as "MawMaw" to her grandchildren, she found her greatest joy in spending time with her family. She treasured every visit, every conversation, and every opportunity to create lasting memories with the people she loved most.
Mabel's home was a place of comfort, warmth, and wonderful meals. She was an exceptional cook, and her chicken and dumplings became a family favorite that will never be forgotten. She also delighted in baking, especially her beloved raisin and pumpkin pies, which were eagerly anticipated at family gatherings. Beyond the kitchen, Mabel found joy in crocheting and spent many hours creating handmade pieces filled with care and love. She was also a gifted seamstress and quilter whose work reflected both her talent and the thoughtfulness she poured into every gift she made for others.
She found joy in life's simple blessings - watching birds and hummingbirds from her window, snuggling with her beloved dog Josie, spending time with a good book, traveling across West Virginia, listening to gospel music, and gathering with family and friends. Above all, Mabel was a devoted follower of the Lord. Her faith was the foundation of her life, guiding her with grace, humility, compassion, and unwavering love. She faithfully attended church, found comfort in gospel music, and lived out her faith through the kindness she showed to everyone she met.
Mabel leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, generosity, and quiet strength. She taught her family not only through her words but through the example she set each day - showing that a life well lived is measured by the love we give to others. Though she will be deeply missed, the values she instilled, the memories she created, and the love she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Hilltop Center and to Dr. Harold E. Harvey II and staff for the compassionate care and kindness shown to Mabel.
Services will be held at Blue Ridge Funeral Home in Beckley, WV on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at 1PM, officiated by Lynn Halstead and Dewayne Williams. Friends may gather with the family from 12PM until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Raleigh County Humane Society in Mabel’s honor.
