Marie T. Billings Allen, 86 of Princeton went to be with the Lord on July 28, 2020. She was born on February 21, 1934 in Princeton to her late parents Charlie and Sara (Tilley) Billings.
Marie is preceded in death by her parents; husband Leonard Allen; granddaughter Stephanie Shrewsbury; and her infant son Randal Shrewsbury. She was the last survivor of 15 children. She is survived by her beloved children Michael & Donita Shrewsbury of Ashland, VA; Fred & Donna Shrewsbury of Norfolk, VA; Ronnie "Scratch" Shrewsbury of Hinton, WV; Steve and Ann Shrewsbury of Helen, WV; Teresa and Thomas Dean Taylor of Rogersville, TN; and Deborah and Roy Bailey of Herndon, WV; grandchildren Amy Shrewsbury and partner Scott of Fredericksburg, VA, Michael Paul and Sue Ann Shrewsbury of Bud, WV; great-grandson Jonathan Shrewsbury (mother Paula Cook); granddaughter Amanda and Amon Stanley of Crab Orchard, WV; great-grandchildren Abby and Eli; granddaughter Angela and Mike Fournier of Wake Forest, NC; great-grandchildren Landon and Ella; granddaughter Lisa and Tim Nunalee of Bolivia, NC; great-grandchildren Samantha Shrewsbury and partner, Brandon Nylander of Leland, NC and Trent Nunalee; grandson Phillip and Jocelyn Taylor of Johnson City, TN, great-grandson Isaac Taylor (mother Amy Pino) of Mt. Hope, WV; grandson Matthew and Brooke Bailey of Herndon, WV; great-grandchildren Mason, Myles and Mia Bailey; and granddaughter Brittany Bailey of Gainesville, FL. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
Marie loved spending time with her family and friends. She loved to sing, dance, pick a guitar and fish with her sons. Her green eyes would sparkle with joy when daughters would bring her strawberry milk shakes. Even as the Alzheimer's disease progressed, she would sing the old gospel hymns with joy. She loved walking on the beach and playing cards. Her sense of humor was with her until the end.
A Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date at Holden Beach in memory of Marie. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Princeton Health Care for all of their love and kindness they shared with their mother.
