Martha E Milam

Martha Ellen Gilkerson, 79 of Gatewood passed away peacefully at her home on June 10, 2025 surrounded by her family following a long illness. Born October 29, 1945 in Boone County, she was the daughter of the late James Gilkerson and Gladys Akers Gilkerson.

In addition to her parents, Martha is preceded in death by her five brothers Walter M, Everette "Hink", Bruce J, James "Jim" H, Robert "Butch" and her two sisters Oneida F. Hamm and Bethel Sowers.

Those left to cherish her memory include three daughters, Retha Parsons and her husband Bruce, Penny Milam and Anita Miller and her husband Rob. She is also survived by grandchildren Brittany, Robbie "Bubba", Leland, MeiMei, Jacob, Elizabeth, and great grandchildren Faithlynn, Chloe, Isabella, Kinzlee, Lila, Sutton and Walker; her brother Eddie Gilkerson and his wife Janet of Gatewood.

She will be laid to rest privately at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens beside her beloved parents.

Martha wanted to send a special thanks to you, all her friends, at Twin Oaks Apartments, who made her last years and days fun and memorable. She wanted everyone to know that you were truly more than friends. You were family.
