She was a gentle soul, with a heart for the Lord and great love for her family and friends. She always wanted everyone to feel special, needed and loved. Her hugs and gentle words could soothe any sorrow and brighten even the darkest days.
She loved to garden and drew great joy and peace in her flowers, except when the aphids went after her roses, at that point, war was officially declared. She enjoyed feeding and watching birds of all kinds but her most favorite was the cardinal, which she always called a Red Bird.
Mary’s pallbearers will be family and dear friends; Granddaughter Samantha Briggs, nephews Charles Collins, and Tony Inman. Lifelong friends Shaler B. Tate (Buddy) III, Shaler B. Tate (Sean) IV, and Matthew Huffman.
The family is blessed to have Pastor Delvin Elwell officiating her funeral and internment service.
Services will be Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Family and Friends can gather together from 1:00-3:00 pm. Funeral services at 3:00 pm.
Her family wants to extend their special appreciation to the fine folks at Greystone and to Hospice for the special love and care they gave her.
Though she has gone home, she will forever be cherished and deeply missed.
