Mont Ellis Jr.

Rev. Mont Ellis, Jr., entered into eternal rest on July 8th, 2015 at 11:14 a.m. at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, WV following a short illness with his dedicated loving wife at his side.

Mont was born in Detroit Michigan on February 27, 1945 to Mont Ellis and Julia Midkiff Ellis.

In addition to his parents, Mont is preceded in death by an infant sister, Ellen, a sister, Mary Southers, infant great-granddaughter, Gabriella Rain Cauffman and nephew, Ronnie Belcher.

Mont came to know Jesus Christ as his savior at a young age and answered the call of God to minister for the remainder of his life. Over the years he was a pastor at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Ravencliff, The Tabernacle of God in Ravencliff and later pastored Lighthouse Ministries in Crab Orchard. He also enjoyed his farm in Bolt, WV and being somewhat self-sufficient that farming provided.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 14 years, Janice Ellis; daughter, Kimberly (Greg) Dietrich and son Todd (Crystal) Ellis as well as grandchildren, Tiffany Martin, Danielle Cooper, J.J. Cooper, Dakota Ellis, Austin Ellis and Savannah Ellis and great-grandson, Mason Carbaugh; sibling survivors include sisters, Linda (Larry) Cline of Williamson, WV, Louise (Bill) Taylor of Dandridge, TN, Eva (Willis) Caudill of Whitesville, KY, Alice (Barry) Ritz of Varney, WV and Donna (Calvin) Lester of Matewan, WV; brothers include Tommy (Alice) Ellis of Varney, WV and Robert (Ruby) Ellis of Varney, WV.

Mont is also survived by step children, Amy Crawford, Lori (Jerome) Motley and Charles (Michelle) Crawford, Jr., as well as step-grandchildren, Isaiah, Sean, Jayden and Myles Motley and Alora, Caleb and Madison Crawford.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, July 14th, 2015 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley with Rev. Sam Francis officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Friends may gather with the family Monday from 6 – 9 PM at the funeral home.

Mont will be missed and dearly loved by all who knew him.
