Born on October 19th, 1933, She was the daughter of the late David Ward Clemens and Minne May Harrah Clemens.
She loved her long life from the beginning to the end and tried to help all she met. She looked forward to the fulfillment of the scripture found at Psalm 37, and verse 11, “But the meek will possess the earth, and they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.”; also verse 29 of that same chapter says, it will be forever paradise here on earth. She believed that promise from the Bible.
She was very young when she fell in love with the neighbor boy, (Sheriff) Juddie. They married on August 18th, 1948 and lived on a beautiful farm in Bolt, WV, in Raleigh County for all their married life. She loved her husband very much and was a wonderful wife, mother of two girls, and a great cook, seamstress, and homemaker.
She lived the last 11 years with her oldest daughter, Jean in Lester WV. Her youngest daughter, Brenda lived next door. Living in an apartment built by her son-in-law, Willard and grandson Bub, she could go shopping, to lunch, and movies with her girls for several years.
The past 3 years were more difficult for her because of a fall and a broken hip. After the fall, she never was able to walk again, but she never lost her beautiful smile, even in her last days. She still loved watching Andy Griffith and the blue grass music, always smiling at the shows. We all, her family, friends, and caregivers will miss her so much!
There were so many caregivers, nurses and CNA’s who cared for her so lovingly. She would have loved to pay each one of them back by making a quilt, crocheting and afghan, or baking a cake.
As the baby girl, Norma was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Juddie; brothers, Harvey Harold, William Roy, Arthor Ray, and David Ward; sisters, Stella Ann, Lura May, Edith Rose, Alexa Jane, and Gracie Sue.
Those left to cherish her memory include daughters, Norma Jean Gwinn and her husband Willard, Brenda Lea Pedigo; 3 grandchildren, Tonya Marie Richardson, Willard Allen (Bub) Gwinn and his wife, Terri, and Genena Leah Bratcher and her husband, Allen; 5 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great- grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved.
A celebration of life will take place on Sunday, March 10th, 2024 at 4PM at Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Brandon Deleave officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, WV 25801.
