On June 17th, 2020, Ocie Damron passed away peacefully at her son and daughter-in-law’s home surrounded by her family. Ocie was 92 years old. Born on June 6, 1928 in Surveyor, WV, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Edna Hendricks.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas R. Damron; daughter, Marilyn Damron; siblings, Gloria, Wilda, Florence, Coy, Roy, Amos and Herman Hendricks.
Ocie was a homemaker and her greatest loves were “her family” and “her Jesus.” She was a member of the Bethlehem Chapter No. 71, Order of the Eastern Star.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Thomas “Bubby” Damron and wife, Connie, Frances O’Brien, Patty French and husband, Richard, Becky Laymon and husband, Bill; grandchildren, Michelle French, Stacie Turnes, Stephanie McPeake and husband, Daniel, Amanda Lambert and husband, Mike, Angie Maxwell and husband, Lonn, Jolene Newlon and husband, Nathan, Daniel O’Brien, Jennifer Pachmayer and Jeremiah Laymon; great-grandchildren, Tamra Nichols, Nicole Maxwell, Andrew and Elizabeth O’Brien, Lucas Newlon, Michael and Matthew McPeake, Bryce and Maggie Lambert, Keith, Beka and Ashley Pachmayer; great-great grandson, Jakobi Nichols; and siblings, Lacy, Ross and David Hendricks, Zada Covey, Lola Hopkins and Alice Lambert.
A special thank you to her caregivers Robin Bragg, Linnae Helms, Mandy Matheny and Kassi Fix and the staff of Hospice of Southern West Virginia for their love and care they provided.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-9:00 pm, Monday, June 22, 2020 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, June 23, 2020 in the Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Russ Jordan officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service in the Peace Garden of Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
The Funeral Service will be via Facebook Live beginning at 12:55 pm on Tuesday, June 22 on Blue Ridge Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens’ Facebook page.
Honoring Ocie as pallbearers will be Daniel McPeake, Mike Lambert and her grandchildren.
