Dear Susan, Gina and all family members,

On behalf of all the members of Colcord Presbyterian Church Congregation our heartfelt condolences on the loss of your father, grandfather and truly your best friend. Okey was a kind and gentle man and was a leader of our church and he leaves a void that will never be filled, now we have lost him to the ages but we know that he can now join Thelma and Dave on the other side.

Okey you may have left us with a empty seat at the Little Green Church but you left us with so many wonderful memories that will carry us through.

Rest In Peace our dear friend and brother.

My Daddy Bobby Gene and Roochie were great friends and family. I can remember going to the station with daddy when I was a kid while visiting Grandma Thompson. I loved listening to him and dad catch up at our family reunions, he will be missed. Thoughts and prayers for the family from us all.

I'm a Pettry. A grandson of Roochie's Uncle Shelby.
my grandfather and grandmother lived a stones throw from Roochie's and Thelma. When we visited my grandparents, it was always a treat to walk to the station and get a grape Suncrest and snack cake. Later as an adult, I saw how Roochie kept tabs on my aging and at that point single grandfather. Roochie was a very caring, smart and peaceful man. He earned what he had and was humble through life. No better man could exemplify a Father, husband, neighbor or Mountaineer to me.

Susan and Gina, your parents were always fun to see when we visited Colcord. Such good people and so interesting! I'm sorry they are gone and glad you got to have them so long. I'm sure you're aware of this, but we are double cousins as my father Jim Pettry's uncle and my mother Wanda Rickman's aunt were Roochie's parents. And of course my grandfather Shelby thought the world of Roochie. I'm sure the gathering on July 7 will be full of warm memories.

I always enjoyed talking with him and stopping at his place as a kid growing up along the river. A fine man.
