Ola Nugent

Joyce was born on May 6, 1947, at Oak Hill Hospital in Oak Hill, West Virginia, to Earl W. Hall and Evelyn Virginia Powers Hall.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Earlina Gaye Hall Jackson; her brother-in-law, Charles William Jackson, Jr. of Montgomery, West Virginia; and her stepdaughters, Katherine Lynn

Nugent and Leslie JoAnn Nugent.

Joyce was a devoted wife to her husband, James “Joe” J. Nugent of Beckley, and a loving dog mom to her beloved Caley. She enjoyed road trips with Joe and loved giving gifts and, most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Music was also an important part of Joyce’s life. In earlier years, she played piano for her church choir and participated in the bell choir. In later years, she continued to fill her home with music, especially hymns and Christmas songs played on her piano.

Those left to celebrate Joyce’s life include her devoted husband, Joe; her loving children, Debra “Deb” Archibald Joyce of Montgomery, Texas; Virginia “Jenny” “Jen” Leigh Archibald Austin (Robert) of Mount Hope, West Virginia; and Bruce Willis Archibald (Ashley) of Montgomery, Texas; and her stepdaughters, Holly Dawn Nugent Noble of Fairborn, Ohio, and Stephanie Michelle Nugent (Clark) of Fairborn, Ohio.

She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Amber Lee Austin Wilson, Denver Brayden Wilson, Cheyenne, Amelia, and Ellie; her deeply loved great-grandchildren, Presley, Tyslon, and Gracie; and her beloved niece and nephews, Johnny Earl, Marsha, Bobby, and Michael “Mike.”

Visitation to celebrate the life of Ola Joyce Hall Nugent will be held at 2PM on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home in Beckley, West Virginia. In honor of Joyce, family and friends attending the visitation are invited to wear blue jeans and a white shirt, as Joyce will be laid to rest in the same.

Joyce loved the song “You Are My Sunshine.” She brought sunshine into the lives of those who loved her, and she will be deeply missed and forever loved.
