

Born March 1, 1932 in Affinity, WV, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Julia Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clifford Paul Cook; a brother Gene Church; sister Connie Shumate.
Peggy was a proud graduate of Sophia High School class of 1950. She was also a member of Brenton Southern Baptist but often attended First Southern Baptist of Grandview after moving from Marianna. She was always the happiest when she was surrounded by her family. Her family meant the world to her and would do anything to protect them. As a homemaker, Peggy enjoyed spending her time cooking and cleaning. Her children often relied on her homemaking tips which they referred to as “Peggy’s Pointers”. The "P" in Peggy was for perseverance even until the last day. She was always willing to try anything and would never give up. She loved sharing stories from her childhood with her family and friends.
Those left to cherish her memory are her four children, Nancy Wiseman (Butch) of Beech Island, SC, Cathy Hylton (Larry) of Pineville, Paulette Cook of Grandview, Alan Cook (Inigo Gonzalez) of Philadelphia, PA; five grandchildren, Christy Mullins (Joey) of Shelby, AL, Ricky Shumate of Beech Island, SC, Jeffrey Hylton (Amanda) of Pineville, Jennifer Wiseman and fiancé Andrew Todd of Beech Island, SC, and Justin Hylton (Lacosta) of Clear Fork; her six great grandchildren who were her “Royal Court”, Princess Kelsey Mullins and fiancé Christina Rutten, Prince Kody Mullins, Queen Olivia Hylton, Dutchess Haley Cline, King Kyle Hylton, and Lady Ella Hylton; sister June Hatcher of Philadelphia; helpful friends and neighbors, Robin and Greg Bragg, Clark Gillian and Randy Wooten; and special nieces and nephews.
A private visitation and funeral service will be held today, Friday, May 1, 2020 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Entombment will follow services at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
