

He was the son of Frank and Mary Bowles of Kimball, WV.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His greatest passion was his love for his Lord, Jesus Christ, of whom he preached for nearly 50 years. He ministered through evangelism and pastoring with the Church of God of Cleveland, TN.
His loving wife of more than 61 years preceded him in death, as well as many of his siblings. He was one of thirteen children. He is survived by his sister Debbie (John) Rose of Culloden, WV and his brother Daniel (Jenny) Bowles of Athens, WV. He is survived by children Teresa (Edward) Adams, Music/Worship Pastor at Beckley Church of God; Marsha (Joseph) Naylor , Christian Educator and Pastor’s wife at Heritage Baptist Church of Providence Forge, VA. ; and P. Randall (Joy) Bowles, Senior Pastor of Oceana Church of God. He is also survived by grandchildren BJ (Kassie) Adams of Beckley, Cassandra (Donnie) Merkle of Princeton, Stephanie (Dale) Greer of Plumas Lake, CA. Josiah and Hadassah of Oceana. He leaves 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.
Philip served the Lord faithfully in his years of ministry in the following capacities: Pastor of Indian Creek Church of God, Assistant Pastor at Kimball Church of God, as well as statewide evangelism. He was a long time member of Oceana Church of God and a current member of Beckley Church of God where he served in the choir and as chapel minister. His infectious humor and joy were evident to all who knew him. Children and babies were particularly drawn to him. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and church family. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
He was employed as a service technician for Sears for 7 years and enjoyed working with his hands. He was later employed by U.S. Steel at the #50 mine at Pinnacle for more than 20 years until his retirement, which gave him more time for the ministry.
Service will be at 12:00 pm on Thursday, June 20th at Beckley Church of God with Sr. Pastor P. Randall Bowles and Pastor Harold Newsome officiating. Friends may call from 11:00 am until time of the service. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Bluewell, WV.
