Phyllis "Dumpy" Ann Hess Green

Born March 19, 1950 in Stephenson, WV; she was a daughter of the late Phillip "Ed" Green and the late Flossie Hess Green.

Phyllis enjoyed playing cards, listening to country and gospel music, sitting on her front porch watching the traffic, and spending time with her cats. Before her health declined, she enjoyed playing the guitar. Phyllis was of the Baptist Faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Debbie Cecil; aunt and uncle who helped raise her, Martin and Susie Hess; several cousins; bonus brother and sisters, Rita Myers, Dianna Hess, and Martin E. Hess.

Those left to cherish her memory include her brother, Earnest Dunford and wife, Gail of Flat Top; cousin, Crystal Cecil of Beckley; sister, Mellissa O'Neal and husband, Jake of Stephenson; cousin, Kenneth Cecil of Beckley; brother-in-law, Kenneth E. Cecil of Beckley; niece and nephew, Whitney and Jeff Dunford; a host of cousins, extended family and friends; and her beloved cats, Fancy, Patch and Tear Drop.

A Service to Celebrate the life of Phyllis Ann "Dumpy" Hess Green will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley. Following the services, Phyllis will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Friends may gather with the family at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time of the service on Friday.
