(9/16/1964 - 8/12/2025)
Richard Keith Hannah, known by everyone as Richie, passed away comfortably, while in the special care of the Bowers Hospice House, after battling a short illness.
Richie was the son of Dallas Keith Hannah and Carol Sue Ratliff Hannah who preceded him in death. Additionally, he was the brother of Ronda Gross who also preceded Richie in death. Mr. and Mrs. Hannah resided in Shady Spring where they raised Richie and Ronda.
Richie is survived by his guardian and brother-in-law, Sam Gross (Daniels, WV), who was Ronda’s husband, as well as his two nephews, Cameron Gross (Durham, NC) and Luke Gross (Daniels, WV), and multiple cousins, aunts, and uncles who all loved him.
Richie was born with cerebral palsy and other disabilities that shaped his mobility, speech, and life, but did not define his character. Richie grew up in the most loving of households where Dallas and Carol provided for his every need. They taught Richie how to love, they molded his character, and they helped him develop into a man that had a unique and unmistakable humor.
In his younger years, he attended various schools that could meet his needs and staff always enjoyed working with Richie. Though he never spoke a sentence verbally, his learned values from home as well as the skills acquired from the dedicated school faculties, equipped him to be able to get his message across without a problem. There was never any doubt he could express his feelings and needs.
Richie enjoyed being in the presence of many kind and compassionate care workers and family over the years. Those that worked with him one-on-one added so much to his life and assisted Carol through the tough times. Richie was enriched by their giving and a special thank you to them is most appropriate.
A celebration of Richie's life will be held on Monday August 18, 2025 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 pm with Pastors Jason Lowe and Sam Peterson officiating. Friends may gather beginning at 12:00 pm.
Richie will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, mausoleum # 3.
Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
