

Born March 24, 1942, in Mullens, WV; he was the son of the late Isaac Loyd Reynolds and the late Mildred Marie Royal Reynolds.
Richard enjoyed beach vacations and spending time with his family; he was a member of the IEEE, the WV Club, and the Straight Shooters. Richard was a co-contributor in formulating and implementing the mine safety and health regulations and laws that are used by the Mine Safety and Health Administration to this day. He held a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering and Master’s Degrees in Mining and Industrial Engineering. During his career, his roles ranged from Electrical Engineer to Assistant District Manager for MSHA. Additionally, Richard was a man with the spirit of generosity. He quietly and unknown to most met many needs throughout his years. Some of the families smile worthy memories include: Richard’s love for singing Celine Dion songs, dancing to “I’m Gonna Be (500 miles)”, and eating ice cream sandwiches for breakfast with his grandkids.
He was a faithful and dedicated member of the Fairway Christian Church and served as a Deacon at the First Baptist Church in Madisonville, KY.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a sister, Glenna Foose.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 63 years, Lula Rinehart Reynolds of The Villages, FL; two sons, Richard Lloyd Reynolds II and wife, Vivian of Bethel Park, PA and Michael Andrew Reynolds and wife, Rachel of Bethel Park, PA; a daughter, Virginia Reynolds Todd and husband, Joshua of Martinez, GA; grandchildren, Grant Isaac Reynolds and bride to be, Riley of Bethel Park, PA, Marah Eve Reynolds of Bethel Park, PA, Quinlan David Reynolds of Bethel Park, PA, Cameron Richard Reynolds of Bethel Park, PA, Eliza Reese Todd of Martinez, GA, Silas Timothy Todd of Martinez, GA, Simon Aaron Todd of Martinez, GA, and Ella Christine Todd of Martinez, GA; and many wonderful extended family members and friends.
Services to celebrate the life of Richard Lloyd Reynolds will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Drive, Beckley, with Rev. Joey Todd officiating. Following the services, Richard will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Family and friends will be serving as pallbearers.
Friends may gather with the family Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
