Robert J Ward

Robert “Bob” Jackson Ward passed away September 30th 2025 at age 87. A hard-working family man Bob spent his career working as an auto mechanic then as a coal miner and enjoyed his downtime hunting, golfing, bowling, watching westerns, racing cars, and riding motorcycles. He was a member of The First Church of the Nazarene.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Robert and Pearl Ward; siblings Gartha Mayhorn (Don), Walter Norman (Ruth), Frank Norman (Jean), Juanita Wolford (Anthony), John Norman (Barbara), Lula Nunn, Lawthie Ward (Ruth Ellen), Pearl Ward Lyons (Benny), William “Bill” Ward (Vivian), Roberta Baugh (Walter), Pauline Adkins, and Roger Ward (Sue).

He is survived by his loving wife Carol Ward; children Melisa Ward Blankenship (Keith), Melinda Ward Stafford (Bryan), Robby Ward (Patti); grandchildren Justin Ward, Caleb Spencer (Marshall), Morgan Black (Jordan), Matthew Blankenship (Monica), Alissa Ward, Emily Harvey (Haegan); great-grandchildren Karter Hannah, Maddy Light, Hunter Light, Emmett Black, Elliott Black, Aurora Blankenship, Eden Black, Huxley Harvey, and Violet Blankenship, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services by Pastor Quinton Runyun will be held at Blue Ridge Funeral Home in Beckley, WV on Sunday October 5th at 2pm with committal to follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends and family are welcome for visitation an hour prior to the services. Caleb Spencer, Matthew Blankenship, Greg Norman, Keith Blankenship, Cecil Lester, and Darrin Salyers will act as pallbearers.
