

Dale was born April 12, 1949, in Naoma; he was the son of the late Charles and Velvet Linville Miller.
He was a 1969 graduate of Marsh Fork High School; a member of the UMWA, a devoted Christian serving as Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent at his church, Horse Creek Freewill Baptist Church where he was a faithful member; he loved to split wood, deer hunt; sitting on his porch drinking his coffee; in his later years, he started feeding the animals, watching birds and wildlife. He loved his grandchildren very much, and spending time with them was a blessing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Miller Varney; a sister, Annie Miller Stewart; brother, Robert Miller; infant sisters, Lucille, Debbie Mae; and an infant brother, Charles Freddie.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 51 years, Jo Alice Miller; son, Joey Miller and wife, Amy; daughter, Ashley Jarrell and husband, Brian; grandchildren, Isabella Miller, Addison Miller, Sophia Jarrell, Amelia Jarrell, Brody Jarrell, and Jonah "JJ" Jarrell; brother, Joe Eddie Miller and wife, Mary Ann; sister, Louella Settie and husband, Bob; brother in law, James Butch Stewart; sister in law Tressie Miller, and his beloved dog, Penny; several nieces and nephews, along with numerous extended family members and friends, and his church family whom he loved dearly.
Services to celebrate the life of Roger Dale Miller will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the Horse Creek Freewill Baptist Church in Naoma, with Danny Gilfilen officiating. Following the service, Dale will be laid to rest at the Miller Family Cemetery, Naoma. Family and friends will have the honor of serving as pallbearers with Wayne Miller serving as an honorary pallbearer.
Friends may gather with the family at the church from 12:00 PM until the time of the service on Thursday.
