Mr. Roy Lee McKinney

Roy L. McKinney Roy L. McKinney 89, of Lester died on Saturday, June 13, 2015 Born July 31, 1925, in Lester he was the son of the late Harrison and Charlotte Meadows McKinney Roy retired from Slab Fork Coal Company in 1982. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family. Roy was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years Janet McGrady McKinney; his brothers, Ralph, Haden, Aden, Wiley and Emmit; and his sisters Ina and Martha. Those left to cherish his memory include his step-children, Doris Small of Roanoke, VA, Michael Bailey of Lester, and Reta Birchfield and her husband Dale of Crab Orchard; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grand children and two great-great grandchildren. Services will be Monday June 15, 2015 at Noon, in the chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Birchfield and Rev. Tony Bailey officiating. Roy will be laid to rest in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Friends may gather with family from 11:00am until service time Monday at the funeral home.
