

Russell Lee “Pete” Pegram, 88, of Lester, Left this world on Saturday, April 29, 2017. Born February 4, 1929 in Winding Gulf, WV, he was the Son of the late Roscoe and Amanda Pegram. He enlisted in the Army and served in the Korean War from 1951 – 1952. Russell was a member of the Odd Fellows lodge in Sophia, attended the Stotesbury Community Church and served as a youth football coach, active in the “Community Gospel Nights” and enjoyed spending time on the river, being outdoors, and loved observing trains. Russell worked for Beckley ICE and Feed, Winterplace Ski Resort, State Fair of WV, Black Diamond Distributing, and worked as a custodian for the Raleigh County Board of Education. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a great grandson; Timothy Wayne Necessary Jr. and In-laws H.H. McVey and wife Mary. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Dorothy of 63 years, Son; Timothy Necessary and his wife Tiffany, daughters; Sharon Necessary, Sherry Hatfield and husband Roland Mark, sister; Loretta Carpenter, grandson; Roland Brett Hatfield, Luke, Michael and Kenneth Necessary, Great-Granddaughters; Kaylee Necessary who resides with her great-grandparents, Sierra Corhn and Shailyn Necessary, great grandson; Tyler Corhn, and other family members including Amanda Epling, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Rhodes, Virginia McVey, several nieces, nephews and cousins, special friend Scotty Farr and his beloved cat Buffy. Friends may gather with the family Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home from 6-8pm. Funeral service will be held at 2pm, Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Hatfield and Brother Ron Mills officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
