IN THE CARE OF
Blue Ridge Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens
Shelva Jean Arthur, age 85, of Bradley, WV entered into her Heavenly home on March 16, 2023 while at the Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, WV.
Born on July 26, 1937 in Marfrance, WV, she was the daughter of Okla Homer and Louise Meadows.
Shelva was dearly loved by her family and friends. Many will remember her radiant smile and her contagious laughter. Shelva took pride in everything she did, most especially in taking care of her home and flower beds year after year. She was wholly devoted to her family. She loved to host and cook for them on any given holiday. She shared 65 wonderful years with her beloved husband, Charles. They would take many trips to Dollywood to listen to her favorite gospel music. They enjoyed “Sunday drives” any day of the week. As a believer, she took pleasure in helping with the church ministries and loved singing in the choir.
Shelva is preceded in death by her two brothers, James Meadows and Jack Meadows, and her sister, Agatha Lawton.
She is survived by her faithful husband, Charles Arthur who cared for her day and night over the past few months. This time has made their love for one another much stronger. She will be fondly remembered by her children, Bryan (Susie) Arthur of South Sand Branch, WV and Stacey (Eric) Floresca of Beckley, WV, and by her adoring grandchildren, Kristina Floresca, Ashley (Parker) Floresca Wheby, Jesse (Allie) Arthur, Andrea Arthur, and Noah Floresca, and her “doll babies” who brought her so much joy, great-grand daughters Remi Floresca Wheby and Evelyn Arthur. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy (Richard) Harris of Mount Hope, WV and brother, James Meadows of Bradley, WV. Shelva Jean will be deeply missed by her family.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Thursday, March 23rd at the Beckley Church of God. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. She will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Carl Larson Cancer Center, the nurses on 4 South at Raleigh General Hospital, Amedisys Home Health, Encompass Health and Rehab Hospital, and the Bowers Hospice House.
