Shirley was born March 23, 1942, in Beckley, WV, to George and Stella Lively.
She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1960. Immediately following, she attended St. Joseph's School of Nursing in 1961. She worked as a surgical tech at Beckley Hospital and Raleigh General Hospital, and later worked in hospitality at the Raleigh County Armory for over 25 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Jimmy, Beaulis, George Jr., Eugene, and Elmont; her sister, Wanda; and
her loving husband of 56 years, James "Frank" Hawley.
She is survived by her children Brian Hawley (Laura), Angela Hill
(Stuart), and Karen Bradford (Kevin). Shirley was affectionately
known as "Grammie" by her grandchildren, Briana Karl (Holden), Sarah Harris (Anaya), Chris Bohner, Brandon Bradford (Elizabeth),
Kandice Bradford (Tyler), Noah Hill, and Allison Hill; her great-grandchildren, Juniper Macy, Isla Harris, Kohen and Kennedy
Bradford, and Anderson and Averie Hatfield; her brother Daniel Lively; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Blue
Ridge Funeral Home in Beckley, WV, at 12:00 PM with Pastor Doc
Adkins officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley, WV.
Friends may visit with the family prior to the service from 11:00 AM
to 12:00 PM.
