Sowbhagya Reddy

Sowbhagya Reddy (1955-2025) was a loving, determined and resilient soul who smiled her way through life until her very last day. She was born and raised in Kurnool, India, where she spent her early adulthood. In her late 20’s, Sowbhagya met Sangam and they decided to move to New York together to start a new adventure. Sowbhagya and Sangam would share 42 years of marriage.

She relished spending time with friends and family within the Indian community and hosting dinner parties with way too much food. Sowbhagya adored her family, especially her granddaughters Poppy and Coco in recent years. A cinema fan, she also loved watching Bollywood movies with her husband for hours on end. Sowbhagya was an excellent cook and was always experimenting with new spices and Indian recipes. With a deep passion for her work, Sowbhagya worked as a physician practicing as an Internist in Brooklyn, Staten Island and Beckley for over 40 years. She took great joy in caring for her community.

Sowbhagya is survived by her husband Sangam, her daughters Shanthi Reddy and Aasha Reddy (Alexander Paull), her granddaughter Poppy Reddy-Paull, her siblings Raja Reddy Kunduru, Nirmala Allam, Bali Reddy Kunduru, and many other beloved family members and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of life service will be held Sunday June 15th at 11am in the sanctuary of Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 5251 Robert C Byrd Drive, Beckley, WV 25801. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
