

Blue Ridge Funeral Home Beckley, WV Thelma J. Redden Mays Thelma J. Redden Mays passed away June 25, 2015 at ARH Hospital of multiple system failure. Born January 13, 1938, in Beaver, WV, she was the oldest daughter of the late Georgia Anderson Redden and the late Jesse Howard Redden. She was co-owner of T&C Book Exchange and Beaver Creek Art Studio both of Beaver, WV, where she taught Oil painting and other crafts; former owner and operator of T&C Ceramic Shop in Beaver. She had received several awards in ceramics and oil, both in WV and Arizona. In addition to these accomplishments, she devoted her entire adult life to helping to care for her handicapped son Steven. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Charles “Chuck” Mays; two sons, Jeffery W. Mays and his wife Sylvia of Beaver, WV and Steven D. Mays at home. Her grandchildren are Christina D. Mays of Beaver, WV, Christopher W. Mays and wife, Colleen of White Oak, WV, Scott Aaron Mays and wife, Tiffany of Daniels, WV and Frederick E. Smith, III of Beckley, WV; one brother, Howard L. Redden of Beaver, WV, one niece Vickie Hames of Philadelphia, and a great-nephew, Jason L. Redden and wife, Michelle of Beaver, WV. Great-grandchildren are Carrie Ann Chapman, Alex W. Carr, Ryann Erin Mays, Aiden, Ashton, Avery, Anson Mays, Landon, Joshua and Colin. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, July 29, 2015 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley with the Reverend Randy Mann officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may gather with the family Monday from 12 – 2PM at the funeral home.
