Born on February 4, 1923 in Jon Ben, WV, she was the daughter of the late Murrell and Maude Waddell.
Mrs. Parks was a born again Christian and attended Midway First Church of God for over 70 years. She resided in Midway for 76 years. Before losing her leg from P.A.D., she enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, canning, visiting her friends, neighbors, and family, shopping, singing in the choir and attending church with her beloved church family.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 52 years, Henry D. Parks, Jr.; son Henry (Hank) Parks III; brother Clinton Waddell; sisters Hester Duncan and Marie Kennedy; and grandson David Elam.
Those left to cherish her memory are daughters Phyllis Mills, Sandy Reynolds, Pam Newman, Kathy Marteeny (husband Chris) and Kim Nagel (husband Dave), 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Midway First Church of God, Midway Rd., Midway, WV, on Friday, August 16, 2019 beginning at 1 PM with visitation from 12-1 PM. Pastor Richard Walker will officiate with John Scarbro. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park with dinner afterwards at the church.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and sons in law. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Radcliff and Nicholas Howell, who always pushed her wheelchair into the church, and Gary Kennedy, a beloved nephew.
