William Randall Welch, age 92, of Prosperity passed away on Monday, September 23, 2019 at Bowers Hospice House. He was born in Giscome, British Columbia, Canada on August 13, 1927 to his late parents Bascome C. and Hettie I. Welch.
William is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Geraldine (Calvert) Welch; son L. Randall (Debra Ann) Welch; 3 grandchildren Aaron (Carishma) Welch, Adam (DeAnna) Welch, and Jennifer (Scott) Seiderman; 4 great grandchildren; and brothers Harold "Cotton" (Shelby) Welch and Raymond (Mary) Welch. He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Robert Alan Welch, brother Benjamin and his sister Virginia.
William dedicated his career as an engineer on the railroad system throughout the Virginias and Kentucky. He worked and retired after 35 years with C&O and CSX. He enjoyed boating, gardening, woodworking, and going on road trips across the states. He loved to work with his hands and was a phenomenal mechanic and could fix anything.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, September 28, 2019 from 11 am - 1 pm with a Celebration of William's life to follow at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Interment will follow services at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Southern WV.
