Lorene was born on April 9, 1925 in Clover Fork, Kentucky to Clercie Maude Mullins and James Philip Kennedy. On January 4, 1958 she married Edward John Gori and were together for nearly 40 years until his passing in 1997.
Mamaw, as she was known in our household, was a big fan of country music especially George Strait. She had a passion for sewing, ceramics and archery. She was Maryland State Champion in Archery in 1960. Mamaw came to Baltimore after graduating high school and worked at Glenn L. Martin Company and Bendix and eventually retired from Franklin Square Medical Center working in the Dietary Department.
She was the oldest girl of ten children. Her siblings called her Lorene and she spoke adoringly about her brothers Everett, Paul, Harold, Ralph and Joseph Kennedy and her dear sisters Frances Wierzbicki, Gladys Collier, Jean Collier and Shirley Stiles.
She is survived by her daughter Carol Nelson, stepdaughter Linda Gasiorowski, stepson John Gori, her grandchildren Christopher and Michael Nelson and Jennifer and Laura Gasiorowski as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on August 31, 2019 at 12 Noon at Schimunek Funeral Home of Bel Air, Inc. 610 West MacPhail Road, Bel Air, MD 21014.
