Agnes Domkowski Dubyoski, 82, of Bel Air, MD, went home to be with the Lord on April 18th, shortly after midnight. She passed at home surrounded by her family with her husband at her side as he has been for the last eight years, caring for her since she had a stroke in 2009. Born in Bridgeport, CT in 1934, she was the sixth of seven children born to Francis and Frances Domkowski. She was predeceased by sisters, Stella and Sally, and brothers, Hank and Ted. Agnes attended high school for two years and then married Henry George Dubyoski in 1953. She then began the first of many careers as a telephone operator. While raising seven children, she also spent many years as a very successful real estate agent, real estate broker, stock broker, and entrepreneur. A very creative individual with an indomitable spirit, she was deeply involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren and the community around her. As one of the most ferocious of the early women’s libbers, she once professed that her daughters would be doctors or the president. She also spent years as a PTA council member, Cub Scout leader, and Brownie leader. Being extremely artistic, her many lovely paintings have been disseminated among family and friends. The St. Margaret’s Fall Festival owes her a deep debt of gratitude for the massive amount of crafts she designed and created with her children and then donated for their fundraising efforts.
At age 54, she had a profound conversion experience and recommitted herself to Christ and the church. No one around her would ever be quite the same. As a member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church for almost 50 years, she served in many capacities. She loved reading, gardening, drawing , painting, remodeling, and doing many assorted crafts with her grandchildren, as well as taking them on many outings. Her favorite retreat was to escape to her condominium on 94th St. in Ocean City where her presence will be felt there for many years to come.
She is survived by her loving husband, Henry George Dubyoski (Hank) of 64 years; her sisters, Helen Przybylski and Terry Pacelli, from CT; children, Dr. Patricia Dubyoski and husband, Jim McAvoy, of Bel Air, MD, Paul Dubyoski and wife, Tina, of Upperco, MD, Mark Dubyoski of Joppatown, MD, David Dubyoski of Bel Air, MD, James Dubyoski and wife, Mary, of Catonsville, MD, Peter Dubyoski of Bel Air, MD, Mary Ellen Roesner and husband, Ernie, of White Marsh, MD, plus 30 wonderful grandchildren and 12 precious great-grandchildren (so far).
A funeral mass will be held at St. Margaret’s Church in Bel Air on Monday, April 24th at 10:30 AM. Viewings will be Sunday, April 23rd , from 3:00-5:00 and 7:00-9:00 PM at Schimunek Funeral Home in Bel Air, MD. Condolences may be left online at www.schimunekfuneralhomes.com.
