Amanda Gertrude Duffy

December 15, 1963May 11, 2019

Amanda (usually called Mandy), died suddenly and unexpectedly on Saturday, May 11, 2019. She is survived by her parents, Alice and Paul Duffy, Stewartstown, PA, her brother, Phillip; Windsor, PA, Timothy and his wife Linda; Colorado Springs, CO, her niece, Julia and nephews Nathan and Ryan; numerous cousins, and aunts and uncles.

Mandy attended Holy Family Elementary School in Randallstown, MD and graduated from Randallstown HS. She attended Eastern Kentucky University and Villa Julie College in the General Studies Field. She had an extensive work history and was well thought of in her positions. She worked as an Executive Assistant for the following companies: Bon Secours Health Systems, Inc., Marriottsville, MD; Choice Hotels International, Silver Spring, MD; Future Health Corporation, Timonium, MD; Wells Fargo Financial, Columbia, MD. While working in these positions she received awards as employee of the month and other commendations. Medical conditions compelled her to reduce fulltime work and later career positions included part time work for Giant Grocery Stores and Walmart.

Mandy loved animals and had aspirations to be a veterinarian but fulfilled her desires by working with animals on a volunteer basis for the local animal centers and the SPCA. She left behind the latest love of her life, her cat, Cersei, named after the character in the Games of Thrones series. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Hello, Mr. & Mrs. Duffy, Phil and Tim
This is Trish Woods (Riley). My brothers, sister and I went to Holy Family with you (me in Mandy's class, my brother Joe in Tim's class). I just saw the article in the Baltimore Sun regarding Mandy's passing and I just wanted to let you know how sorry I am for your loss. Mandy was such a nice, sweet person. Please know that we are thinking of you.

I'm sure all her cousins are as grieved as I to learn of Mandy's death. My heart breaks for Uncle Paul and Aunt Alice, and for Tim and Linda and their children, and for Philip. Mandy was a sweet person whose chronic illness cannot efface our memory of what she meant to us and of our happier times with her. May she rest in peace, and may God in his great mercy give to her dearest loved ones the comfort and peace that is beyond our poor human power to give.

I first knew Mandy when we were at Holy Family School together back in the 70's. I babysat for her and her brothers for years, and just loved them! Only being a few years younger than me, Mandy and I became friends when we were teenagers, and my memories of her are only happy ones!! I felt like we reconnected just recently via Facebook, and I loved her posts and seeing the lovely things she made. She again and again brought a smile to my face, and I will miss that. My heart goes out to her family and friends, and you will be in my heart and in my prayers. Love, Mary Kaye

I worked with Mandy at Walmart. We discovered that we both loved animals and would talk about that. She was a very sweet, compassionate woman. My thoughts and prayers go to her family.
She will be missed.

I met Mandy when we were both volunteering for the SPCA and taking care of cats at our local PetSmart.
Over the years, we would meet up from time to to time for a wide variety of activities. I learned of Mandy's artistic talent when we went to a paint night together. We shared a love of animals and would speak of the latest antics of our cats. Mandy was smart, funny, and compassionate. She was a true pleasure to be around. I will miss her. My thoughts go out to her family and other loved ones.

One of my favorite memories of visits to Midway was sitting on the front porch swing. I remember trying to pick up a toddler Mandy to sit on the swing with me when I wasn't much bigger than she was!
I remember tears streaming down her cheeks at my sister Maggie's graveside. We didn't see each other often so it was a joy to catch up years later at my parent's 50th anniversary celebration. I am so glad that Rowe and I had a visit, short though it was, with Paul & Alice, Mandy and Phil before we headed west last Fall.
Love to you all.
