Christopher Jude McCormack was born in Bayside Queens on November 28th, 1964 to George and Sheila (nee Roberts) McCormack. Dependent upon how you knew him, he may be Chris, Chrissy, Flounder or “The Brain”. He grew up with a love of sports passed down from his dad. An avid Yankee and NY Football Giants fan he attended many games and tailgates with his father, Uncle Ray and Stephen. Chris was diagnosed with a learning disability in the 3rd grade. His mother found a pioneering program for children with learning disabilities, which he called “reading school”, at Hofstra University. From that reading school came a lifelong love of reading and literature. Chris is an alum of St. Mary’s Boys High School in Manhasset, NY. He graduated with a BS in Business/Finance from Mount St. Mary’s University, Emmitsburg, MD and a BA in English Literature from Western Connecticut State University. He was a licensed middle school English and reading improvement teacher in the Westport school system. A devoted son, he cared for his elderly parents at home for several years before their deaths in 2021 and 2024. He is predeceased by his parents, George F. McCormack and Sheila (nee Roberts) McCormack, and step-mother Constance Maher McCormack. He is survived by his sister, Catherine (nee McCormack) Kearney, nephews Michael and Andrew (godson) Kearney and great niece Reese Kearney. Chris will be missed by many friends from the Mount and his Connecticut friends that are really family…. There is a little less humor and laughter in the world, Chris will be greatly missed.
