David Daisaku Mukai

On February 4, 2023 David D. Mukai, Col. (Ret), D.O., passed away. He was the beloved husband of Peggy Mukai; devoted father of Jonathan Mukai-Heidt (Polly Mukai-Heidt), Kristin Mukai (Arlin Ortiz), and Katherine Mukai; ; cherished grandfather of George Mukai-Heidt; loving son of the late Cromwell and Kyoko Mukai; dear brother of Robert Mukai (Janet Yamada), Margret Mukai, and the late Victor Mukai (Kathryn Mukai); also survived by loving nieces and nephews.

David served in the military for 30 years and was stationed around the world, including on bases in Massachusetts, Texas, Maryland, Germany, and Haiti. He was an avid reader and pursuer of knowledge and had many hobbies, including model train collecting and tree climbing. Ordained as a Reader, he was a dedicated member of his church where he sang bass in the choir, and served on the Parish Council. David is remembered for his determination, courage and positive spirit during his long health battles.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at Schimunek Funeral Home of Bel Air Inc., 610 W. MacPhail Rd Bel Air, MD 21014, on Friday February 10, 2023 from 6-8 PM, and where a Panikhida Service will be held at 6:30PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at St. Andrew’s Orthodox Church, 2820 E. Lombard St. Baltimore, MD 21231, at 1:00 PM. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 1:00 PM. All attendees over 16 years old must have a photo ID to enter cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in David’s memory to Four Evangelist Orthodox Church, 528 Hickory Ave. Bel Air, MD 21014.
